Pip cannot apologise enough, and Lily takes charge.

Lily informs Elizabeth she's invited some of her Facebook friends on her behalf to Elizabeth's 50th birthday party. Elizabeth protests, but Lily goes to take a call. The evening starts awkwardly with the arrival of Kenton, but he and Elizabeth quickly resolve their spat; there are enough family rifts already.

Elizabeth's horrified to see old faces, including Terry Barford and Tim Beecham, and has to hide in the kitchen to escape Terry's advances. Lily thinks it's all good; it just shows her mum's still got it.

David gets short shrift when he tries to talk to Tom. Tom's struggling with his dad, and believes it all comes back to the IBR. Rebuilding the Angus herd will be expensive, and there's no sign of any compensation yet. Meanwhile, David and Kenton compare Lily and Freddie's driving. Kenton's happy to forget their silly bet; Freddie's clearly going to pass his test before Lily.

Pip's desperate to talk to her mum. Ruth thinks she'd regret it if they talk now, but Pip pushes. Ruth opens up. She's defended Pip so often, and maybe that was a mistake. She ends their discussion by telling mortified Pip she's ashamed of her for what she's done. It kills her to say it, but it's the truth.
