Helen prepares a surprise birthday tea for her mum. Tom comes in to help and Helen admits she was harsh with him. She's a little hurt that Kirsty didn't tell her about the baby. Tom regrets his stupid marriage proposal. Kirsty isn't replying to Tom's texts and Helen advises to give her space and act normal. Helen will try to help find out how Kirsty feels - as much for herself as for Tom - she and Kirsty are overdue a catch up.

Kirsty and Pat play with Jack and talk about Helen's first trip to the contact centre. Pat is called away by Henry and Tom joins Kirsty. Both of them want to stay focused on Pat's birthday. Pat thanks her family and makes a toast to Kirsty for all her support over the last year.

Lilian gets an unexpected call from Justin. He's back in Ambridge and wants to run through his diary. To Lilian's surprise, she finds Miranda with Justin. She wants to help arrange Justin's diary and suggests a number of social engagements are cancelled. Lilian grudgingly agrees to make the necessary diary adjustments, and Miranda pointedly thanks her - it's the best way forward for them all.
