Toby is caught out, and Ed takes offence.

Toby and Rex discuss Alice's party. Alarmed to hear that Rex is still undecided about whether to go, Toby tries to put his brother off.

Ed chats to lonely Adam at The Bull. Neither is planning to attend Alice's party, but Ed receives a text; Alice really wants him there. Rex joins Adam and both admit to their own reasons for not partying. Adam hates to fall out with his sister, and Rex has his own baggage. They strike a deal: if Adam agrees to talk to Alice, Rex will face up to his personal issues. They'll both go to the party. Later, Alice and Adam make their peace and hug it out.

Disgruntled Ed discovers Alice's intention is to show him off to her new colleagues as an 'end user' of farm technology. He's less than impressed and leaves early; he doesn't appreciate being the token peasant.

When Rex arrives at the party and discovers Toby smooching with Pip, his shock is matched only by Pip's fury that Toby hadn't yet told his brother they were together. Toby goes after Rex to sort it out. His insistence that it was Pip who came after him only makes matters worse. Rex can't believe it; he's never going to trust his brother again.
