Wales's foremost animal adventurer Dr Rhys Jones returns for a third series of hi-octane action. In this first episode, Rhys and wildlife crime officer PC Mark Goulding face their toughest case yet: the deliberate release of 42 dangerous wild animals into the Welsh countryside. In April last year, a commercial robbery at a Maesteg farm resulted in 42 wild boars disappearing into the local countryside - triggering local panic and a national media frenzy. As a key part of the criminal proceedings, Rhys and PC Goulding spend months tracking and evidencing the boars continued survival as they spread out into the dense forestry surrounding the farm. Finally, their work leads to the conviction of three people on a number of animal offences including, for the first time in British criminal history, a successful prosecution for the release of a viable breeding population of dangerous wild animals. Meanwhile, they also supply conclusive evidence to the big unanswered question: are these wild boars now breeding?
