4. Summoned

Summoned to her home at 1.30am, Colin learns Monroe's darkest fears and glimpses her steely ambition. Read by Samuel Barnett.

Colin is summoned to Marilyn Monroe's home at 1.30am.

Sitting alone together in the dark, he learns some of her darkest fears and glimpses the steely strength that has driven her to become the most famous film star in the world.

The friendship causes concern and Colin has been warned to stay away from her by Marilyn's co-producer Milton Green.

In 1956, Colin Clark worked as a 'gofer' on the set of 'The Prince and the Showgirl', the film that disastrously united Laurence Olivier with Marilyn Monroe.

In this memoir, Clark recalls how, during filming, he became Monroe's confidante, helping her escape from the pressures of filming.

Abridged by Robin Brooks.

Read by Samuel Barnett.

Producer: Kirsteen Cameron
