Elizabeth looks for an escape route.

Matt's surprised by Annabelle when she tells him that she's going to a meeting run by the supporters of the great crested newt, telling him it's good to know your enemy. Seeing her point, Matt says they'd better have lunch the next day so she can tell him all about it.

Joe helps Nigel exercise his Shire horse.

Elizabeth wonders whether Kathy's off work just to punish her, but Nigel says she's probably still recovering from the shock. Elizabeth admits to feeling guilty about speaking in Taylor's defence. Nigel rings Kathy to find out how long she's going to be off work but Kathy's cagey.

Shula moans to Elizabeth about all the turkeys she's won. She's managed to put two in Jill's freezer and is going to use the others up at an impromptu family party on Friday. The party might also distract Jim from being nice to her, which she finds just as bad as him being nasty. When the subject of Usha comes up, Elizabeth has a brainwave. Later she tells Nigel that Usha might be able to help her - she must know how Elizabeth can get out of being Taylor's defence witness.
