A day of reckoning for Alice.

Eddie and Clarrie prepare themselves for their trip to Aberdeen for Aunt Hilda's funeral. Eddie's annoyed they'll miss the excitement about the snake - he doesn't want to go. Clarrie tries to convince him that Aberdeen is lovely, but Eddie just says there's no point in going as Aunt Hilda never gave them any money. Clarrie's cross that everyone seems to have met Nic except her.

It's the day of Alice's A level results and Adam's tries to calm her down. She tells him she'll call him and Jennifer straight away but she won't be phoning her dad. Ian, on his day off, has bought Ruairi a kite and takes him to play with it. Alice opens her results and is thrilled with 3 As and a B. She meets Amy and things are slightly awkward between them, but Amy has also done well. Alice phones Jennifer who is delighted. Alice announces that she'll be taking her deferred place at Southampton University to ensure the possibility of being accepted by the RAF. Jennifer calls Brian to tell him Alice's news. Brian is over the moon and asks Jenny if he should go over and see Kate - he's got to, he's so proud of her.
