Part of BBC Radio 4 Extra's tribute to the remarkable talent of writer and producer Charles Chilton, who died on 2 January 2013 at the age of 95.
Charles Chilton examines the origins and language of the cockneys - 'those born within the sound of Bow Bells' in London - through music and historical accounts.
The singers are Pat Whitmore, Charles Young and The Kerbside Serenaders. The narrators are Harry Landis, John Hollis and Charles Chilton.
