The Welcome to Yorkshire Garden
Silver medalist

Tracy Foster's garden features cliffs, a real beach and reconstructed sea, all centred on a ruined abbey in celebration of one of the county’s many historic buildings.

Every element of the garden is authentically Yorkshire, with stone used to construct the ruin sourced from the very same quarry used to build Whitby Abbey in the 13th century.

Taking the Yorkshire coastline as its inspiration this garden even has a fishing boat mored up on the beach.

The cliffs are created from material with the same geological composition as the famous Flamborough Head.

The planting is natural in style using fairly subtle and subdued colours.
