Shobna Gulati Interview

Shobna Gulati has been back in Letherbridge playing the social worker who’s guiding Karen and Rob through their journey to be foster carers. We caught up with her to see what she thinks about Doctors and her storyline.

You’ve been on Doctors before, what bought you back?

It's a great team always welcoming and that makes a great job always.

We hear your mum is a big fan?

Yes she loves all the soaps! Doctors is her afternoon treat.

You’re character is helping Karen and Rob through their Foster Care training, what do you think – are they up to the job?

Their hearts are in the right place, they don’t always get it right! But they are perfectly enthusiastic lovely people willing to look at their strengths and weaknesses to make them better potential foster carers, committed to fostering and that’s what counts.

You’ve been working closely with Jan and Chris on this storyline, what was that like?

Brilliant! Such a great couple on screen - great chemistry the perfect balance of comedy and drama when appropriate as actors. That's wonderful to be a part of.

You’ve also stared in EastEnders and Coronation Street, what do you think makes British soaps so good?

The teams... That includes front and back of camera and respective offices. Everyone is behind the genre and the stories told are always outstandingly told.

What’s the best thing about visiting Birmingham?

Curry.

What is your overriding memory of working on Doctors? Any gossip?

My lips are sealed on gossip!
