BBC Music Day - Liverpool

Highlights of BBC Music Day in Liverpool

Liverpool Waterfront was the setting for a fantastic live music event run by BBC North, BBC Music and Liverpool City Council.

Hundreds of local school children performed Anna Meredith's body percussion piece 'Connect It', one of the Ten Pieces with the majestic Three Graces as the backdrop. Resonate Music Hub led the performance and then collaborated with Liverpool International Music Festival artists on a second performance entitled the 'Merseyside Mozart Mash-up'.

The audience were then treated to a feast of New Mersey Sounds as LIMF showcased some of the brightest new talent to emerge from its festival academy. BBC Radio Merseyside's Introducing team then took the reigns and hosted Cavalry, Dave McCabe & The Ramifications and The Tea Street Band on stage.

The finale of BBC Music Day in Liverpool was the return of the Father of Funk himself, DJ Craig Charles, spinning some tunes for his BBC Radio 6 Music Funk and Soul Show. Lisa Stansfield, John Turrell, James Junior, Carleen Anderson and Andreya Triana all performed as part of Craig's exclusively formed Fantasy Funk Band.
