A view of thousands of planes, stored in the middle of the desert.

The 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG) is a United States Air Force aircraft and missile storage and maintenance facility based at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona.

It is the largest aircraft storage and preservation facility in the world

Located in the Sonoran desert, this site was chosen because of its low humidity, paucity of rainfall, alkaline soil and high altitude of 2,550 feet (780m), all of which minimise rust and corrosion.

It is the largest aircraft storage and preservation facility in the world.
