Remembering the wedding Ted: I was married on September the 3rd 1949. My wife and I were together for a long, long time... and she died about a year and a half ago. We just missed our golden wedding because she wasn't here any longer. We had quite lot of trouble trying to get a decent sort of reception because of the situation in the country with rationing and lack of good food and so on. But we were very lucky because the church I belonged to had a canteen. They allocated us a whole load of rationing points and that enabled us to buy a big piece of ham and things like that which we couldn't have bought otherwise. It was in those days when there wasn't very much money about and we had to find a honeymoon venue which was reasonably cheap. We were very lucky anyway, because some friends of my mother's had a cottage down in Warwickshire near Stratford on Avon and we had a week down there, which was marvellous. OBJAŚNIENIA rationing points - punkty, za które kupowało się racjonowaną żywność things which we couldn't have bought otherwise - rzeczy, których w przeciwnym razie nie moglibyśmy kupić there wasn't very much money about - nie było pieniędzy, ludzie nie mieli pieniędzy she wasn't here any longer - już jej tu (na tym świecie) nie było Warwickshire - hrabstwo w środkowej Anglii
