Southern Kaduna crisis: ‘I no go fit forget how my pikin die'

Imagine say u dey room dey sleep then around midnight u hear your pikin dey shout 'wayyo' 'wayyo' wey for Hausa language dey signify 'I dey in trouble' Dis na wetin happun to Madam Esther Samson for Chibob village on July 7 2020 for southern Kaduna.

According to madam Esther some pipo attack dia village around midnight last month and kill her pikin 19 year old Shittu Samson wey suppose dey follow im mates write WASSCE exams wey just start.

"Shittu na last of my three children and na special pikin because e get problem for im legs. I spend big money for im treatment. E no dey fit waka without support."

"One thing wey I no fit forget be say on di day wey e go die, e waka without support for di first time and e make me happy wella and I don dey even plan to organise thanksgiving for church. I no know say na dat day e go die."

"Around 12 midnight na im di attackers enter my house and wetin I hear from Shittu room na Wayyo Wayyo I come hear di attackers dey tok so I just find place hide after dem kill am , dem come put di house on fire, dem enter my room but dem no see me for wia I hide."

Why di crisis dey boil dey go?

For recent TV programme wey BBC monitor, Govnor Elrufai tok say di southern Kaduna crisis dey continue because di leaders na dem dey organise because e no gree give dem 'brown envelopes'.

According to di govnor, past govnors dey always appease them na why dem wan use same tactics for am but e no go work.

But madam Esther disagree.

She say: "I disagree with wetin our govnor tok, I dey my room and I dey hear di attackers di language wey dem dey speak no be from southern Kaduna."

Di 42 year old farmer say she currently dey stay for IDP camp for Zonkwa local goment wey support groups open for pipo like her.

"I dey IDP camp wia peace dey and we dey get food eat e no easy at all." Di woman wey lost her husband 20 years ago tok.

Her other two children dey oda towns when di attack happun because dem dey study for oda places.

Pastor Gideon Mutum na one of di co-ordinators of di camp wey Madam Esther dey stay and e say dem get nearly 1000 pipo for dia.

"Na just individuals dey support us for here nothing like goment help."

Mr Dio Maisamari na one of di leaders for southern Kaduna pipo and Presido for Aadara development association one of di biggest tribes for di area and e tell BBC say dem dey disappointed by govnor Elrufai statement on Monday.

"Dis crisis na something wey dey trouble us and we expect say govnor go helep us find solution not to dey bring up conspiracy theories say na southern Kaduna pipo dey themselves dis thing. E dey sad."
