Kogi State for north-central Nigeria say dem dey monitor 44 people, after one medical doctor wey bin dey work for Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Lokoja, die from Lassa fever.

D medical doctor name na Idowu Ahmed and im die for di hospital wey dem transfer am go for Edo State, south-south Nigeria.

Di state commissioner for health Dr Saka Haruna Audu for statement, say na two cases of Lassa fever dem bin confam from di five samples wey dem bin take for di hospital.

Im say di other patient still dey respond to treatment.

Di Medical Director of Federal Medical Centre for Lokoja, Dr Olatunde Alabi, bin report say na on 19 January dem find out say Idowu Ahmed catch di virus.

Di Medical Director, Dr Alabi talk say dem don quarantine all di people wey jam with di sick doctor. Im also say dem go trace how di virus bin enter di medical centre.

Na just last week Lassa fever bin kill doctors for Ebonyi state, Nigeria and one doctor plus one nurse follow catch di virus for Nasarawa State.

Doctor Chinemerem Magnus Ogaraku wey sabi di late Idowu Ahmed, tell BBC News Pidgin say na very young doctor wey finish school for 2016, and bin don almost finish im housemanship for di Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Lokoja, before im die.
