'I regret say Michael Usifo Ataga die' - Chidimma Ojukwu tell court

Chidimma Ojuwku di alleged killer of Super TV boss Michael Usifo Ataga don tell court say she regret say di deceased die.

She tok dis wen she dey give evidence for court on Tuesday during her trial.

Chidimma, her sister Chioma Egbuchu and one Adedapo Quadri dey stand trial for High Court TBS Lagos Nigeria on top accuse of murder, conspiracy and stealing.

Wen di case come up in court, di prosecution team wey Barrister Y. A. Sule dey lead, do cross examination on Chidimma ontop phones and MacBook wey dem find in her possession during arrest and her knowledge about use of phones and laptops.

Dem bin dey level allegation ontop her say she Carry di phones and laptop of Usifo Ataga afta im die.

Chidimma and Usifo bin lodge togeda for one shortlet apartment for Lagos and na for dat apartment dem find di deadi body of di deceased all alone in di pull of im own blood.

Dem show Chidimma two receipt documents wey show her transactions wit one company Phone Hub wia she bin go swap her iPhone.

Chidimma say she no dey aware of di documents, but confam say she go phone hub to sell her MacBook Pro and di company pay am 495,000 Naira for her Sterling bank account.

Di prosecution team wan join di document as exhibit for court, but di defence team wey Barrister Onwuka Egwu dey lead object to di document say na prosecution team manufacture am. Say dem withhold di document from di defendant and wan use am ambush her wen law tok say di prosecution must give di defendant all items dem wan use for di case for her to use to defend herself. E add say di law dey against ambushment.

Prosecution team argue say di law permit dem to use any document to pursue dia case for court, say dem no ambush nor withhold di document from her. Dem add say she dey aware of di document and di transaction.

For her ruling on di matter Justice Adesanya rule say dem go accept di document as exhibit as di document dey relevant for di case.

As dem kontinu, di prosecution ask her weda dem do di transaction afta di death of di deceased.

She say no, say wetin she know be say na days afta she leave di apartment di transaction.

Di prosecution also ask am say wen di police find her, weda all her details dey for di phone wey dem see am wit. She say yes, unto say di phone na her own.

Dem ask weda she use di phone make call after she leave di apartment wia she bin dey wit Ataga. She say yes.

Di prosecution also ask am weda na true say di MacBook wey she get na birthday gift from pesin, and how come di MacBook now get receipt.

She say "yes na birthday gift and di pesin wey give me di MacBook also give me di receipt."

Wen di prosecution ask her weda na she be di last pesin to see di deceased alive.

She say she no be di last pesin to see di deceased alive.

Dem ask am weda she carry di deceased property wen she leave di apartment, she say she no carry di deceased gadgets comot.

Wen di prosecution ask am weda she regret say Michael Ataga Usifo die, she say "I regret say im die".

Di case so far since 2021

During further examination by di defense, Barrister Onwuka Egwu ask am to tok wetin be her level of education and experience in IT.

She mention say she be mass communication student three hundred level before her arrest, add say she no get get experience for IT.

Na dia her testimony end. She be di first witness wey di defense team dey call since dem begin dia defense earlier dis year. Dem bin tell court say dem plan to call about four witnesses to support dia defense.

Di prosecution bin don call over 10 witnesses to support dia case.

Dis case wey start since 2021 don last four years and still dey go into di 5th year as court adjourn di case to February 9th, 10th, 17th and 23, 2026 for continuation of trial.

Na for 2021 authorities find di dead body of Usifo Ataga inside one shortly apartment wia im bin lodge wit Chidimma Ojukwu.

As at wen dem find di body, di 300 level former student of university of Lagos no dey di apartment. Few days later, police arrest Chidimma for her papa house inside Lagos.

Court remand Chidimma Ojukwu and Adedapo Quadri for prison custody and dem dey come court from dia since den.

Di third defendant wey be Chidimma sister Chioma Ojukwu dey on bail and dey attend court proceedings from home.

E neva still clear wen di case go end as Chidimma still dey do her defense, after her, din second and third defendants Adedapo Quadri and Chioma Egbuchu go start dia own defense before judgement day go come.
