Lawyers of Ipob leader decline comment ontop NMA investigation into Nnamdi Kanu health

Di Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) don carry out independent investigation to know di health status of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of di Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob).

According to Aloy Ejimakor, one of Kanu lawyers, di NMA team bin do dis investigation on 23 September 2025, three days bifor di court hearing of 26 September, wia Justice James Omotosho give order for court say make di association do dia own investigation and advise di court on wetin to do.

Di reason for dis independent investigation na bicos Kanu lawyers bin apply for di court to transfer am from di custody of di Department of State Services (DSS) wia e dey for detention since June 2021, to di National Hospital for Abuja, sake of di life-threatening health challenges wey e get.

However, di DSS say even though dem agree say Kanu get health challenges, dia medical facility for di DSS headquarters go fit handle im mata, so no need to transfer am to National Hospital.

So di trial Judge gatz involve di NMA as a third party wey no go dey partial, to chook eye for di mata by diasef and tell di court wetin to do; weda to transfer Kanu to hospital or to leave am for di DSS custody.

Di court fix 8 October 2025 to review di report of di NMA and give ruling on top di matter.

Wen our tori pesin reach out to Ejimakor dis Monday morning to ask am about di NMA investigation, e reply say: "Yes. I dey aware of di medical evaluation of Mazi Kanu by a team from NMA on 23rd September 2025."

"And I bin don write letter to dem demanding a copy of dia report, way bifor di Court bin order dem to file di report with the Court.

"Mazi Kanu sibling, Prince Emmanuel Kanu bin dey present at di evaluation wey dem do on 23rd September 2025."

Local tori pipo, Punch, also report say di Secretary-General of the NMA, Ben Egbo, bin confirm say dem bin set up a team of seven specialists for different aspects of medicine - plus one coordinator - to do di investigation on Nnamdi Kanu.

"We get di seven doctors from di seven geopolitical zones of Nigeria wit different fields of specialty in Ophthalmology, Neurology, Urology, Gastroenterology, and oda various areas of specialty," Egbo tok.
