Theme 1: Festivals
Hilda decides that birthdays are such fun that she'd like to throw herself a 'Birthday Again' party. Driven by the question "why can’t every day be my birthday?," Hilda goes to the Halloween celebration in Londonderry/Derry. Hilda and Potto come to realise that festivals are even better than birthdays because they are something that everyone can share.
Theme 2: Homes
Hilda and Potto meet Christine, a girl from the Traveller Community in Belfast who shows them her trailer.
Theme 3: Sharing
Hilda and Potto meet quintuplets who have to share everything.
Theme 4: Looking Different
Hilda's family is coming over, and Potto admits that he feels uncomfortable because he looks different than they do. When the question comes in, "Why do we all look different?," Hilda goes to visit different children all over Northern Ireland. Potto and Hilda discover that everyone looks different, and everyone has things in common as well.
Theme 5: Tidying Up/Environmental Awareness
Hilda and Potto come along on a school trip to tidy up the beach.
Theme 6: Instruments/Bands
Hilda and Potto visit Jason, a young boy who is learning how to play the drum in a marching band.
Theme 7: Doing Hard Things
Hilda and Potto visit Molly, a young girl who takes Irish dance classes and learns a hard new step.
Theme 8: Patience/Wee Minute
Hilda and Potto are trying to play Hide-and-Seek together, but Potto counts too slowly for Hilda, and Hilda counts too fast for Potto. The question comes in: "How long is a wee minute?" After visiting children who are waiting "a wee minute" for scones to cool, Potto and Hilda realize that the length of a "wee minute" depends on who you are, and what you’re waiting for.
Theme 9: Healthy Eating
Hilda and Potto visit a farmers' market where Regan and William buy healthy foods to eat.
Theme 10: Personal Favourites
Hilda and Potto visit Rita Duffy’s painting class where children figure out what makes them distinct.
Theme 11: Taking Turns
Hilda and Potto visit a school where children are taking turns at skipping rope on the playground.
Theme 12: Empathy
Hilda is feeling glum because Claribelle hasn't visited the tree in some time. When the question comes in, "why do I feel sad when my friend Gabrielle feels sad?" Potto calls up his friends to investigate while Hilda visits an animal hospital to find out about feelings. They discover that it's alright to feel sad sometimes, and that friends can help to cheer you up.
Theme 13: Different Languages
Hilda and Potto visit Finn at an Irish language school. We see that there are different ways to say the same thing.
Theme 14: Being Special
Hilda and Potto visit Conor and his father, who are feeding ducks. They sing about how each one is special.
Theme 15: Recycling
Hilda and Potto visit the Really Rubbish Orchestra: children who make instruments from recycled rubbish.
Theme 16: Being Prepared
Hilda wants to have a picnic, but Potto is afraid to go outside because it's unpredictable out there. The question comes in - "my brother wants to go camping, but I’m scared. What should I do?" - and Hilda runs off to consult with the Boys' Brigade preparing for a night walk. After speaking with his relative Telly Monster, Potto learns that being prepared helps you feel ready for anything.
Theme 17: Growing Up
Hilda and Potto visit Kevin, a young boy who must be patient and wait until he's older before he can play hurling.
Theme 18: Different Needs
Hilda and Potto visit the Portaferry Seal Sanctuary where Conn helps his father care for a baby seal.
Theme 19: Honesty
Hilda breaks one of Potto's toys by accident, but she's so nervous he'll be angry that she's scared to own up. The question comes in, "Why do I have to own up if it was an accident?" Hilda visits a pair of boys in her same situation who choose to do the right thing, and say they're sorry. Meanwhile Potto stays in the tree and learns from his friends around the world how to accept an apology.
Theme 20: Self Expression
Guest star Duke Special helps Potto find his own special voice, while children from all over Northern Ireland show off their dance moves!
