Who was St David and why does Wales celebrate him?

The first day of March marks a special occasion for Welsh people all around the world, when they celebrate the country's patron saint - St David.

Lots of people wear one of Wales's national emblems - a daffodil or a leek.

Parades and concerts are held throughout Wales and it's a time to celebrate Welsh culture, traditional food and music.
