Death Valley in California - the hottest place on Earth - is normally one of the driest and most bare landscapes on the continent of North America.
However, it's been looking rather different recently.
That's because large parts of it have been transformed into a carpet of colourful violet and golden wildflowers.
Experts say an unusually wet autumn last year, has resulted in the desert experiencing its best bloom in a decade.

Why are there so many flowers in Death Valley?

Death Valley, located on the west coast of the US, receives very little rainfall in a typical year, which is why it is classed as the driest place in North America.
For flowers to grow on this scale, conditions need to be just right.
Experts say that the desert experienced an unusually wet autumn, which saw record rainfall hit the area.
This helped to soak seeds and wash off their protective coatings to trigger sprouting.
The Valley then saw a dramatically wetter winter which provided the steady moisture needed for root development.

The National Park Service (NPS) - which manages Death Valley - officially declared it an above-average bloom year last month, with flowers appearing across large areas of the park.
Some of the most striking flowers currently on display include bright yellow desert gold, brown-eyed primrose, grape soda lupine and desert star.
Visitors have been travelling from across the United States to see the display.
Flowers at lower levels are expected to last until mid-to-late March, while those higher up are predicted to bloom from April through to June.
Experts say its the best display of flowers that the desert has seen since 2016.
