Nearly 86,000 people voted for this photo of a young Iberian lynx playing to win the Wildlife Photographer of the Year People's Choice Award 2026.

The photograph was taken by Austrian photographer Josef Stefan as the lynx played for around 20 minutes near to him.

The Iberian lynx is one of the world's rarest wildcats but thanks to conservation efforts, more than 2,000 live in the wild now compared to fewer than 100 in the early 2000s.

24 images were nominated for this award and as well as the winning pic, four other finalists were highly commended.

A flock of pink flamingoes stands in the water between some mounds of earth. The water is very blue. They are framed in the middle of the photo during a sunset. The sky near the earth is pink and it transitions to orange to blue. The pylons frame the flamingoes as they get smaller into the distance. Alexandre took this photograph after a 10-hour drive. He said the smell from a nearby dump was overwhelming which contrasted with the beauty he was seeing and able to capture on his camera.

He waited at this bird sanctuary in Walvis Bay, Namibia for just the right mmoment to capture some flamingoes flying overhead too.

While bears are a pretty common sight in Jasper National Park in Canada, seeing cubs. like this is rarer because their mothers tend to keep them away from danger.

They were play fighting in the middle of a quiet road when Will captured their silhouettes against a car's headlights.

He said when the lights aligned, he knew it was the image he was after.
