Keely Hodgkinson smashes a world record

British Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson has just smashed the women's world indoor 800m record.
Keely crossed the finish-line in one minute and 54.87 seconds at a race event in Lievin, France.
She beat the previous record of 1:55.82 set by Slovenia's Jolanda Ceplak nearly 24 years ago - on the day Keely was born! - 3 March 2002.
"That was really fun, I was really looking forward to this," she said after the race.

"I was really excited to come here," she said.
"I felt like it was going to happen today, it was just a matter of how fast I could go. It was really hard that last lap, but I am super happy. It's nice to have a world record.
"That's really exciting. And I've been working at it for a long time.
"The last couple of years I have said I have really wanted it. It almost felt a bit weird that it was set on the day I was born, and 24 years later I break it. But I think there's still more to push."

Keely won a gold medal in the women's 800m race at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games
Keely has two Olympic medals to her name - a gold from the 2024 Paris Olympics, and a silver at the Tokyo 2020 Games, in the women's 800m race.
She now joins joins triple jumper Jonathan Edwards as the only British athlete to hold a current world record in one of the sport's championship events.
Keely has now set her sights on breaking the official outright women's world 800m record, which was set by Czech athlete Jarmila Kratochvilova 43 years ago in 1983, with a time of 1:53.28.
