Two yellow weather warnings are in place for snow and ice across parts of Scotland and northern England.

The weather warnings have been issues by the Met Office - which monitors the weather in the UK.

Weather experts say that a blast of Arctic air is sweeping in from the north, bringing cooler temperatures, frost and a bit of snow with it.

A yellow warning is the lowest risk warning means the weather is likely to have some impact for some people, for example travel disruption, but others will be able to can just carry on as normal.

On hilly areas in Scotland, there could be up to 2 to 5cm of snow, with 10cm possible in places.

Temperatures in the coldest spots could reach as low as -8 degrees.

In northern England and north Midlands there is also a risk of some snow and ice.

The risk of flooding remains in place for many areas of the UK after a period of wet weather.
