Ben Goldscheider wins BBC Young Musician Brass Category Final
Eighteen-year-old French Horn player Ben Goldscheider, from Hertfordshire, has won the Brass Category Final and will progress through to the semi-final of the competition, joining the Keyboard, Woodwind and Percussion Category winners, pianist Jackie Campbell (15), saxophonist Jess Gillam (17) and percussionist Andrew Woolcock (16).

The BBC Young Musician Brass Category Final was broadcast on BBC Four this evening, and will be available to view again on BBC iPlayer. The Brass Category finalists were trombonists Gemma Riley (17) and Sam Dye (16), trumpeters Zak Eastop (18) and Zoë Perkins (17), and Ben Goldscheider (18) on French Horn.
The five Category Finals (Keyboard, Woodwind, Percussion, Brass and Strings) are presented by Clemency Burton-Hill and former BBC Young Musician finalist, trumpeter Alison Balsom. They took place at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff. The semi-final of BBC Young Musician will be broadcast on Saturday 7 May on BBC Four, followed by the final on Sunday 15 May, which will take place at the Barbican, London and will be broadcast on BBC Four and BBC Radio 3.
