Activity 3

Tough enough?

Listening and spelling

One of the difficult things about the English language is spelling. As you know, words aren't always spelled as they sound… Sorry about that. But we're here to help. Let's play a game to help you learn a few more –ough words.

To do

Listen to the list of words being read out. All you have to do is separate them into words that are spelled with ough, and those that aren’t. You might not know all the words, but we will give a list with definitions under the game.

Ready?

End of Session 1

Thanks for joining us. Have you had enough of ough words? Or do you feel you have a thorough understanding?

Join us in Session 2 when we look at the third conditional, with sentences like: If I’d known it was your birthday, I’d have bought you a present.

See you there.
