મિત્રો, આજે વાત કરીશું કે કેવી રીતે કોઈને પોતાનું સરનામું જણાવશો. સહુથી પહેલા તમે સાંભળો હેલન અને હેરીને અને જાણો કે બન્ને ક્યા દેશમાં રહે છે અને એમના શહેરનું નામ શું છે. જો અઘરું લાગતું હોય તો ડોન્ટ વરી...અમે તમને શીખવામાં મદદ કરીશું.

I live in a town called Cambridge. It’s in England. How about you?

તમને કેટલું યાદ રહ્યું મિત્રો?  હેરી કેમબ્રિજમાં રહે છે, જે ઈંગ્લેન્ડમાં છે.

I live in a town called Cambridge. It’s in England.

પ્રેઝન્ટર
હેલન એ Glasgow રહે છે જે સ્કોટલેન્ડમાં છે.

I live in Glasgow. It’s a city in the West of Scotland

OK so let’s take a look at the language used when asking and answering the question ‘Where do you live?' 

પ્રેઝન્ટર
પ્રશ્નમાં ‘where’ નો અર્થ થયો કે તમે જગ્યા વિશે પૂછી રહ્યાં છો. જ્યારે ‘live’ નો ગુજરાતીમાં અર્થ થાય છે રહો છો. અહીં વિષય છે ‘you’ અને વાક્યને પ્રશ્નાર્થક બનાવવા ‘do’ ના મુખ્ય પ્રકારનો સહાયક ક્રિયાપદ તરીકે ઉપયોગ કરીશું.

That’s right! When both speakers answer, they begin with ‘I live in…’, then they provide more detail about the place.

હા, જગ્યાનું નામ જણાવતી વખતે ક્યારેય પણ ‘a’ નો ઉપયોગ કરવું નહીં. 

I live in Glasgow.

પ્રેઝન્ટર
મિત્રો, તમે એમ પણ કહી શકો કે હું નગરએટલે કે ‘town’, ગામ એટલે કે ‘village’ અથવા શહેર એટલે ‘city’ માંથી આવું છું. યાદ રાખો કે ‘town’, 'village' અને ‘city’ સાથે અંગ્રેજી શબ્દ ‘a’ નો ઉપયોગ ફરજીયાત છે. 

I live in a town.

I live in Glasgow. It’s a city.

હવે તમે ફરીથી હેરીને સાંભળો અને જાણો કે વાક્યમાં ક્યા શબ્દો ઉપર ભાર મૂક્યો છે. 

I live in a town called Cambridge.

મિત્રો, દિશા વિશે વાત કરતી વખતે કાયમ‘in the’કહો અને પછી દિશા North, East, South અથવા West કહો.

યાદ રાખો દેશ અથવા સ્થળ વિશે જણાવવા માટે ‘of’ નો ઉપયોગ કરવામાં આવે છે.

Oh! વ્યક્તિ શહેર વિશે વધુ માહિતી પૂછી રહ્યો છે. તમે કેવી રીતે કહશો કે Bath શહેર ઇંગ્લેન્ડના દક્ષિણ ભાગમાં છે?
