Emma knows where she wants to have her holiday - and she's writing a postcard to tell everyone. But which articles will she use?
St Petersburg
It's almost time for you to write a postcard from St Petersburg. You've learnt something about the city for you to write about but what articles will you need to use? Do this activity to see what you remember about using them. Afterwards, there's another task for you to try. Good luck!

Now we know a lot about St Petersburg, let's pretend we are there - and are writing a postcard to a friend or family member. Remember to start with 'Dear' or 'Hello' and then talk about some or all of this information:
- Where you are
- Where you are staying
- What have you done?
- What you are going to do
- What's it like?
- Sign-off
To do
TASK 1: Write your own postcard from this location. Remember to use the correct articles.
TASK 2: Write a postcard about where you live.
Thank you for sending us your postcards. We enjoyed reading them. This task is now closed.

We've visited plenty of places in this Unit. Our destination for this week's News Report is: the end of the earth. Find out the exact location and learn some new vocabulary on the next page.

Articles: a reminder
Use the for specfic things, and when everybody knows which thing(s) we are talking about.
Use an instead of a when the next word begins with a vowel, or silent 'h', or 'u' when it isn't pronounced 'y' /j/.
We can't use a or an with plural nouns.
Use the in many expressions with ‘of’.
Use zero article to talk about things in general and the names of most cities.
