Tejali
Hello! ऐकलंत का? Listen Here मध्ये तुमचं स्वागत. मी तेजाली...
Tom
And I’m Tom! Hi everyone!
James
And I’m James.
Tejali
आपण आज एका गंभीर विषयाबद्दल बोलणार आहोत, मृत्यूबद्दल बोलणार आहोत. Do either of you ever think about dying?
Tom
Not really, no.
James
I tend to avoid it. It’s a little bit depressing!
Tom
It is depressing.
Tejali
Depressing म्हणजे नैराश्यजनक. ही क्लिप आहे end-of-life companionबद्दल ... म्हणजे असे लोक जे मृत्युशय्येवरील लोकांना मदत करतात. तिने यात त्यांच्यासाठी एक विशेषण वापरलंय या क्लीपचा पहिला भाग ऐकू.
Insert
I remember the first time I ever saw a dead body and that has a really profound effect on me. There was such a profound feeling of absence. And it really made me think... What is this? What is life?
Tom
She said ‘profound’.
Tejali
Profound, म्हणजे गहन, गूढ, चमत्कारिक.
James
Did you know that profound comes from Latin? Profundis means ‘deep’, which has a similar figurative meaning.
Tom
Ah, James! You demonstrated our pronunciation point for the day - ‘has a’. How does the speaker pronounce these two words? Let’s listen again!
Insert
I remember the first time I ever saw a dead body and that has a really profound effect on me.
Tom
What was it, James?
‘Has a’. Say it with me.
a
has a
has a really profound effect.
Tom
Thanks James ! And the speaker has a really profound question, too! ‘What is life?’ That’s profoundly difficult to answer!
Tejali
It certainly is! ती म्हणाली मृत्यूबद्दलचा विचार करणं म्हणजे तिच्यासाठी एक reality check होता. म्हणजे असं काही ज्यातून तुम्ही सत्याची पडताळणी करता, ज्यातून आपल्याला खऱ्या जगाची ओळख होते. श्रोत्यांसाठी तिने youचा वापर केला. तिने श्रोत्यांना काय सल्ला दिला?
Insert
What is this? What is life? And it's a reality check, isn't it? You can't get complacent. I think, if you do the job that I do, I chill out more and I do less and I got rid of lots of achiever fever. I don't worry so much. Because the value is in the moments. It's not in the achievements that you rack up.
Tom
She says ‘you can’t get complacent’.
Tejali
Complacent म्हणजे आत्मसंतुष्ट, स्वतःमध्येच आनंदी राहणारा. She’s suggesting that we always need to apply thought to the way we live, right?
Tom
That’s right, and she also said that her job helps her to ‘chill out’, which means to relax.
James
Interesting. Maybe realising that life is short helps her to ‘get rid of’ her stress and worry.
Tejali
To get rid of म्हणजे सुटका करून घेणे, दुर्लक्ष करणे. What else does her job help her to ‘get rid of’? Listen again for the phrase.
Insert
I think, if you do the job that I do, I chill out more and I do less and I got rid of lots of achiever fever.
James
She said she ‘got rid of achiever fever’. Fever is a form of illness.
Tom
And an achiever is a person who achieves!
Tejali
Achiever fever म्हणजे आपणच सतत जिंकायला हवं अशी भावना, विजयाची धुंदी. Do you have achiever fever, James ?
James
No, not really. I but I do think professional and personal achievements are important. Did you hear what the speaker said is most important?
Tejali
आता पुन्हा एकदा शेवटचं ऐकू. जीवनातील मूल्यं म्हणजे, valuesबद्दल तिने काय निष्कर्ष काढलाय?
Insert
I chill out more and I do less and I got rid of lots of achiever fever. I don't worry so much. Because the value is in the moments. It's not in the achievements that you rack up.
James
She says the value of life is ‘in the moments’. Moments meaning the small, everyday parts of life, right?
Tom
Correct, I think she’s saying that appreciating every second of life is more important than concentrating on the achievements that we rack up.
Tejali
To rack up म्हणजे मिळवणे, गोळा करणे, साठवणे.
James
And we’ve racked up quite a few minutes for this show!
Tom
We have! I hope today’s episode has had a profound effect on you, not a depressing one.
James
Bye everybody!
Tejali
See you next week for more Listen Here! Bye!
Tom
Bye!
