Aili, Finland
My background is: - I'm already a senior student in English - a
deathless student. I started my lessons in this - for me difficult but
interesting - language with my 12 years. Not in the school, there I
learned German and Swedish. I wanted to have a pen friend with German
far away, that was in Japan but I got two pen friends in English.
A woman of my neighborhood told me it is not difficult. She could help
me for beginning. So I bought a dictionary in Finnish-English-Finnish
and started to learn English with letters from Japan.
Later I had lessons in the different evening classes but never orderly.
So, I got last year change to stay in Canada one year with my cousine
who doesn't speak Finnish. I decided finally learn English better. I
found your programm in the internet and so I become your student. I'm
still very slowly in learning (just by lesson 14!!!!) but your programm
is fabulous! I love it. It helps me in many issues which were till today
for me big problems.
I struggle still with the English ABC. I know them BUT when someone
spells I'm not able to follow him and I don't know which letter I have
to write :-[ . So, I have to do this yet.
The second issue is to understand why you write in English a word and
pronounce it differen - like read-read-read. That is a miracle for me!
But I will be hardworking now and in the future. You help me so much in
it! Thank you!

My project for the next year is to do preparation for getting a new job that is suitable to my major. I am going to leave my current job as a saleman for a shoes company at the end of this year to start learning English and Chinese in the first six months of the next years. After that I am going to participate in a import-export business course in Ho Chi Minh city to improve my professional skill. I think that when all of these stages of preparation are done, it will be easier for me to get good job suitable to my major learned at the university.

Oscar Cortes from Colombia, now living in Dubai
Really I have two big projects in mind for this and next year. One of them is about my English level, I need to learn and improve much more faster. I've already finished Unit 14 in BBC Learning English web site in just 6 weeks. I hope to finish the full Lower intermediate level in the next 2 weeks, studying 3 or 4 hours per day. I've just started to listen English songs (I've been listening Hello from Adele around 5 times per day) and watch TV shows, however I just can understand around 20 % of the stuff that y listen. My objective is achieve a level where I can understand 100 % of the English conversations. I've already downloaded a lot of movies also, I think this is good practice to improve and training my listening skills.
The second one is about my job. I've just moved to Dubai, UAE and I've already started to work here. Here, everybody speak in English but sometimes I've felt too bad because my listening, vocabulary and pronunciation in not good yet. This is the reason for my fist proposal.
I've already learned and remembered a lot things through BBC. My level isn't the best right now yet but I'm sure that in just some months I will be really good and fluency.
Sveta, Kyiv, Ukrane
I have a big resolutions for a next year. First of all I want to get up my English degree to upper-intermediate. My written and spoken English isn't good enough yet. But thanks to you, BBC, I changing it for better every day.
And second item is to learn a several programming languages. I already learnt HTML and CSS and recently I've started to study Java Script. It's very interesting and exciting finding out something new.
