Your friend tells you that he got on a bus one day - and Justin Bieber was the driver! What do you say? Learn expressions to use when you hear surprising information
Sounding surprised
Most of the things Brian said were suprising. His friend Ken used expressions to show that he was surprised - or that he thought that what Brian said was unbelievable.
But these expressions alone are not enough. It's important to use your voice to make sure you sound surprised! To sound surprised, make your voice a little bit louder than normal and use a wider range of intonation than normal. If your voice is too flat, then these expressions will sound strange. But beware: if you sound surprised when the information isn't very surprising, you will also sound strange. This activity should help you to hear the difference.
