So ఎవరినైనా పొగడాలంటే సింపుల్‌గా ‘great’ అంటే చాలు.

Tom 
You notice that we use it with the verb 'to be' in the appropriate tense. Dan used 'great' but you can use other positive adjectives like fantastic, brilliant or amazing.

Listen and repeat: 

‘You were fantastic!’

‘You were brilliant!’

‘You were amazing!’ 

సౌమ్య 
Great, fantastic, brilliant, amazing...జనరల్‌గా పొగడాలంటే ఇవన్నీ వాడొచ్చు. కానీ ప్రత్యేకంగా, ఫలనా విషయమై పొగడాలంటే ఎలా? చూద్దాం. Jiaying, Dan ని పొగిడారు. గుర్తుందా? ఎందుకు?

You're so good at asking useful questions.

Dan అడిగిన ప్రశ్నలు బావున్నాయని పొగిడారు.

Pay attention to the sentence stress - 'so' is strongly stressed. Listen and repeat: 

‘You're so good at asking questions.’
‘You're so good at listening.’
‘You're so good at explaining things.’

తరువాత ఏమన్నారో మళ్లీ విందాం.

Oh, Jiaying రూపం, స్టైల్ గురించి పొగిడారు.

'You look really nice' is a general compliment and then we can use 'I like your…' to comment on something specific.

బదులుగా Jiaying కూడా Dan ని పొగిడారు. ఏమని?

‘Suit’ అనే క్రియ వాడారు. 'That jacket really suits you'. Suit అంటే మనకి తెలిసినదే కదా. నీకు బాగా Suit  అయ్యింది అంటే బాగా సరిపోయింది, అది వేసుకుంటే అందంగా కనబడతావు అని చెప్పడం.

When Jiaying said 'It's a good colour on you' it meant the same thing – it means that it is a suitable colour for them to wear. 

సౌమ్య 
సరే ఇప్పుడొక చిన్న పరీక్ష. మీరు ఎంత బాగా పొగడగలరో చూద్దాం. మీకు తెలిసిన వ్యక్తి ఒక మంచి ఉపన్యాసం ఇచ్చారు. మీకది నచ్చింది. ఆ వ్యక్తిని ఎలా పొగుడుతారు?

సౌమ్య 
Very good. తను విషయాలను బాగా వివరించారు. ఈ ముక్కే చెప్పండి.

సౌమ్య 
Nice. ఇపుడు ఆ వ్యక్తి చాలా అందంగా ఉన్నారు. మీరు వేసుకున్న suit నాకు చాలా నచ్చింది అని చెప్పాలి. 

Tom
You look really nice, by the way. I like your suit! 

సౌమ్య
