1. fizzle out (verb)

Fizzle out નો અર્થ થાય છે નિરાશાજનક રીતે સમાપ્ત કરવું. આ કદાચ ભીના ફટાકડાના આવ્યું હોઈ શકે છે, જે ખૂબ જ ટૂંક સમયમાં બળી જાય છે અને કશું ઉત્પન્ન કરતું નથી.

2. field questions (verb)

Field questions એટલે પ્રશ્નનો ચતુરાઈથી જવાબ આપવો. Field નો સામાન્યતઃ મુશ્કેલ પ્રશ્નોના જવાબ આપવા વિશે વાત કરવા માટે થાય છે. જ્યારે મુશ્કેલ પ્રશ્નનો કૂટનીતિક રીતે જવાબ આપો ત્યારે પણ આનો ઉલ્લેખ કરવામાં આવે છે. ક્રિકેટમાં 'ફિલ્ડિંગ' કરવાની ક્રિયા પરથી આ શબ્દ આવે છે.

3. swing into gear

Swing into gear એટલે ઝડપથી અને તીવ્રતાથી કોઈ વસ્તુ શરૂ અથવા પૂર્ણ કરવું. ફિલ, આ અહીં શું સૂચવે છે? આ કદાચ એન્જિન ચાલુ કરવા સાથે સંબંધિત છે.
