“Me too” 和 “you too” 的区别是什么?

Episode 260218 / 18 Feb 2026

Buli
We are here to answer your questions about English language, culture and life. I'm Buli, and in this episode I have Becca here to help me answer a question. Morning, Becca.

Becca
Hi, Buli. Isn't it a gorgeous day? I love it when the Sun's shining.

Buli
Me too. It makes me feel so much happier than the rain! Right, let's hear the question.

Question
I often confuse "You too" with "Me too". For instance, if someone says "Nice to meet you," I want to express "I'm happy to meet you as well," but the correct response is "You too." Can you explain when to use each of these phrases?

Becca
I think this is such a good question.

Buli
Me too. Or should I say 'you too'? Em… 不过在和他人打招呼时,却经常会用 “you too” 来回答 “Nice to meet you” 等问候语。

Becca
Let's get started and we'll find out.

Buli
I think I'm going to eat out for lunch today. It's so sunny!

Becca
Me too. Maybe we could go for a wander together? There's a new falafel place around the corner, and I love falafel.

Buli
Me too. I like a falafel wrap. Oh, you'll have to go without me. I've just remembered I said I'd meet a friend for lunch, and I haven't seen him in ages. I can't miss this.

Becca
Ah, no problem. Well, have fun and enjoy the sunshine.

Buli
You too!

Becca
Yes. Like when you said you'd go out for lunch, I said 'me too' because we both had the same idea of going out in the Sun.

Buli
And when you said you like falafel, I said 'me too' because I agree. We share the same idea about falafel – it's delicious!

Becca
If we agree on something in a negative way, we say 'me neither'. For example, I've never been to Japan.

Buli
Me neither. But Becca, what about 'you too'? When do we say that?

Becca
We say 'you too' when we want to return the same message to someone. So, if I say 'have a good day', you could reply with 'you too' meaning you want me to have a good day as well.

Buli
Ah I see, so it means 'I want to say the same thing to you too.'

This is common with phrases like 'nice to meet you', 'good luck' or 'take care'. If it's relevant, you can say it to return the same feeling back to the other person.

Becca
And it's polite to say this. You're returning the politeness to them.

Buli
That's right. 在节目开始的时候你说 “I think this is such a good question” 的时候我应该用 “me too” 还是 “you too” 呢?

Becca
It's 'me too'. We think the same thing – we share the same opinion.

Buli
Well, I think that's answered the question.

Becca
Me too! Remember, if you have a question that you'd like us to answer, you can email us too at: questions.chinaelt@bbc.co.uk
