Internet inspiration - Word art tools

Spanish words in a wordleWith word art tools such as Wordle you can create word "clouds" from text of your choice. The more frequently a word is entered, the larger it appears. You can browse wordles created by others in the online gallery and print any you create. Use it to:

1. Create, or encourage learners to create, wordles with different themes eg. numbers, colours, eating out, shopping etc. to display on the walls of the classroom

2. Introduce new vocabulary

3. Revise and test vocabulary

4. Get your learners to write simple messages to each other

5. Show which words appear most frequently in an article or speech by inputting all of the text

6. Challenge your learners to find and translate wordles created by speakers of the language you're teaching in the gallery. (Note that Wordle is not moderated or filtered for profanities.)
