UNDER 11s: YMCA 10 BLACKPOOL RANGERS 0 This was a superb performance by YMCA at a wet and windy Seafield Road on Sunday. The oustanding Ryan Allan, got the home side under way with a well taken goal from the edge of the area and he doubled YMCA’s lead before the hard working Andrew Walkden made it 3-0 with a shot the Rangers’ keeper could not keep out. A well taken Tom Broderick goal gave YMCA an unassailable 4-0 half time lead. Allan completed his hat trick early in the second half latching on to a Walkden through ball. Allan scored his fourth from close range before setting up Oliver Drury to make it seven. Drury then turned provider for Broderick to score his second. Allan netted his fifth of the game late in the second half before Josh Keen completed the scoring with a well taken chance. Alex Evans and Matthew Ridgway were both notable in this comprehensive victory. UNDER 12s: BJFF 9 YMCA 0 Due to illness effecting a large number of their squad YMCA had to play this game against the league and cup holders BJFF with only 10 men and a number of players having to play out of position to compensate. With others also struggling with 'flu' symptoms YMCA realistically had no chance to salvage anything from the game. Nevertheless, they battled hard against a well organised BJFF team with Jack Hellon outstanding in central defence making numerous decisive tackles to prevent the home side scoring even more. In 3 weeks time YMCA have an early chance to gain revenge as they meet each other again in the 1st round of the Hogan Cup. With a fully fit team hopefully available YMCA should be able to give BJFF a sterner test. Joe Virco was notable playing in an unfamiliar full back role. UNDER 13s: YMCA 1 ST ANNES FC 1 Due to injuries, illness and holidays YMCA could just about raise a side for this clash against their neighbours at Seafield Rd last Sunday. The 1st half was evenly balanced but YMCA were denied of taking the lead by a brilliant save by the visitors’ ‘keeper and an effort from Ben Cudworth which struck the crossbar. It remained 0-0 at the break but the deadlock was eventually broken after the restart when YMCA took the lead. John Houston, whose pace up front had caused St Annes many problems forced the ball into the net in a goalmouth scramble. It remained a hard fought contest and St Annes snatched a deserved equaliser in the dying minutes of the game. Joe Kennedy and Adam Levine were both outstanding in the YMCA rearguard with Rob Nunnen and Jordan Tenby both producing fine displays in midfield. UNDER 14s: ST ANNES FC 0 YMCA 5 On a very cold, raw and wet afternoon at Blackpool Rd North last Sunday an impressive 2nd half display from YMCA brought them a deserved victory. There nothing to choose between the two sides in the 1st half as YMCA struggled to find any rhythm and the home side displaying great spirit. It remained goalless at the break but within 8 minutes of the restart YMCA broke the deadlock with a superb goal. A clever pass by the impressive James Gardiner sent Taz Moxon away down the left and his low cross was tucked home at the near post by Paul Gaskell. Within 2 minutes it was 2-0 when Eddie Jackson netted at the far post. YMCA were now producing fine some flowing football and Moxon increased the lead with a great 25yd angled free kick. Gaskell then made it 4-0 with a brilliant 20yd drive and the busy Gardiner completed the scoring in the closing minutes. Both teams deserve great credit for their efforts and sportsmanship in atrocious conditions. UNDER 15s: YMCA 8 STAINING 2 Following their 1st defeat for two years the previous week YMCA returned to winning ways with this comfortable victory in appalling cold and wet conditions at Seafield Rd last Sunday. Gary Long strike soon put them on their way to victory and further goals from Jamie Gunn and Morgan Lewis put them 3-0 ahead at half time. YMCA continued to dominate the game after the break and Long soon added his 2nd of the game. Jake Duncan then netted twice with Jack Mellor and Sam Turnock also notching further goals. The visitors netted two late consolation goals after YMCA had reshuffled their line-up. UNDER 17s: ST ANNES 0 YMCA SENIORS 10 A seriously depleted St Annes outfit could only muster up 9 players for this encounter in very unpleasant conditions at Blackpool Rd North last Sunday and they were outplayed from start to finish. Andy Marsden put YMCA ahead then a double strike by Ashley Walsh gave them a 3-0 half time lead. Adam Parkinson then netted two more after the restart as YMCA continued to dictate the plucky St Annes outfit. Further goals followed through Elliott Lavin, Michael Toft, Henry Wright then Marsden completed his hat trick with YMCA’s 9th goal.
