YMCA remained well in control after the restart and Hendry notched two more goals to bring his tally to four for the game with Oscar Twitchett netting twice also UNDER 10s: ST ANNES A 0 YMCA A 5 ST ANNES B 0 YMCA B 11 League leaders YMCA proved far too strong in this local derby at Blackpool Rd North last Saturday. In the A game the home side fought hard throughout and created several chances it was YMCA’s clinical finishing which was the main difference between the two teams. Jack Donovan netted twice with Daniel Lean, Ben Cheston and Tyler Douthwaite their other marksmen. Lewis Potter shone through for YMCA. In the B game YMCA were far superior than the plucky home side and were rampant throughout. Jamie Manley and Calvin Ross both bagged hat tricks with the impressive Jordan Bishop notching two goals. Also on target were Andy Cowburn, Jack Dudgeon and Giles Hellon who was also notable. UNDER 11: YMCA 3 STAINING 1 This was another solid YMCA performance at Seafield Road on Sunday to produce a victory to put pressure on the leaders. It was the visitors though who opened the scoring early in the first half due to a defensive mix up. Harrison Kenworthy, Jack Wood and Andrew Walkden all went close to equalising and it was Kenworthy who eventually found the back of the net when he slotted home from close range. Jack Wood added another goal shortly afterwards with a fine finish from a Jack Burton through ball. YMCA remained on the offensive in the second half and were rewarded when Wood scored his second with a well taken shot. Wood and Kenworthy were both unlucky with efforts that were just wide and Oliver Drury had a header cleared off the line. William Nash and Matthew Ridgway were both notable in the YMCA defence. UNDER 12s: SQUIRES GATE 3 YMCA 1 YMCA had good reason to be disappointed in this game played on the big Squires Gate pitch on Sunday afternoon. With no official referee appointed they had to contend with some various dubious decisions by the home side’s volunteer referee. Nevertheless YMCA started brightly and almost took the lead when Joe Virco's shot skimmed the top of the crossbar. It was Gate who went ahead though after YMCA’s defence failed to clear their lines and it stayed 1-0 at the break. In the second half YMCA came out confident of getting back into the game but they were given a ‘kick in the teeth’ when Gate were awarded a very debatable penalty for an alleged infringement when the volunteer referee was over 40 yards away. They made it 2-0 from the spot kick leaving YMCA feeling that it wasn't going to be their day with many 50-50 decisions continually being given against them. However they kept battling on and were unlucky when a Matthew Carlisle effort went narrowly wide. Gate then scored a 3rd goal on the counter attack to make it 3-0 with Matthew Nelson netting a late consolation for YMCA. Daniel Farran and Jack Hellon were notable in defence. UNDER 14s: FLEETWOOD GYM 2 YMCA 7 After four successive defeats this was a welcome win for YMCA at Memorial Park last Sunday. They started brightly and were 2-0 ahead in the opening 10 minutes, James Gardiner netting both following good work from Chris Barlow for both goals. On the half-hour mark YMCA increased their lead from the penalty spot, Adam Zyde drilling home his 1st goal of the campaign. Gym pulled a goal back but right on half time YMCA Harry Foley forced the ball home after a goalmouth scramble, the Gym linesman sportingly indicating to the referee that the ball had crossed the line. After the restart YMCA further increased their lead, Jack Cronin finishing off a fine flowing move for his 1st goal of the season. The spirited Gym outfit pulled another goal back before the lively Gardiner then added another to complete a superbly taken his hat trick. Zyda then notching his 2nd goal of the game with a low angled drive to complete YMCA’s victory. Taz Moxon, James Pollock and Barlow were all outstanding in a vastly improved YMCA team display. UNDER 15s: ST ANNES FC 1 YMCA 5 With four players missing through illness and injury this was a hard earned victory for YMCA at Blackpool Rd North last Sunday. Jamie Gunn put them ahead in the 15th minute but the Spirited home side leveled on the half-hour mark. YMCA though restored their lead through Gary Long who headed home firmly from a corner kick and it was 2-1 at the interval. Soon after the restart YMCA increased their lead with another headed goal, this time from Jack Mellor for his first goal for the club. With YMCA now generally in control Jordan Douthwaite made it 4-1 with a crisp 20yd strike and an own goal completed the scoring. Scott Harries impressed throughout in YMCA’s midfield. UNDER 11s GIRLS: YMCA 7 HASLINGDEN JUNIORS 2 YMCA maintained their 100% record with an excellent victory over Haslingden Juniors at Mythop Road. YMCA took the lead after six minutes when a Ruby Lawson corner was turned home by Siobhan Fryer on her debut. Annie Cartwright added a second with her first goal for club mid-way through the half before Millie Gallagher and Fryer again added further goals to make it 4-0 half time. The second half saw Haslingden pull a goal back before Fryer completed her hat-trick to cap a Girl Of the Match performance. Gallagher added her second and an excellent run and fierce drive by Stephanie Vickers brought YMCA's seventh goal with Haslingden snatching a late consolation to round off the scoring. |
