Ever since I was very young I was interested in drawing and making things. ![]() This continued all the way through my school years at Onchan Primary and then Ballakermeen High School. Not quite sure how to make a career out of this interest I went to Lancaster University and studied for a Fine Art degree, graduating in 2002. While at university I developed an interest in cinema and moving images and upon returning to the Island spent two years at the now defunct Manx Multimedia Centre in Peel. It was at the MMC that I experimented with animation and learnt how to use different types of animation software. ![]() I have been lucky enough to work a number of feature films on the Isle Of Man in different crew roles - from camera trainee to prop hand. This year I started my own production company Brain Grenade Digital Creative and have been involved in some very exciting projects that have called on my animation skills to bring stories to life – from music videos to more corporate films. ![]() I also help with the Isle Of Man Arts Council Film School at St. Ninians High School every summer where animation is always a very popular choice with the students. My latest project is Longtale TV.com – a spoof news channel for The Isle Of Man. Although it features live actors it also relies on animation techniques to bring the humour across! ![]() BBC Blast Isle of ManI’d recommend animation to anyone with an interest in art or craft at school. It can be time consuming and sometimes requires a lot of patience – but seeing your creations come to life is a great feeling. last updated: 01/10/2008 at 14:33 SEE ALSOYou are in: Isle of Man > Blast Tour > Glenn Whorrall - Animator |
