Objective: Help improve a run down area of the town. All the shops have closed and there's nothing to do. Young people are hanging around and getting up to mischief. Make improvements that make everybody happy.
Team member Daithí introduces the activity and he is available to offer you advice should you need it.
The three characters you need to please are Badu, Muireann and Ruairí.
Badu, who lives in the area, wants:
• new shops
• better houses
• improved road safety
• more things for young people to do.
Muireann, who is new to the area, wants:
• recycling facilities
• new shops
• more attractive streets
• better street lighting
• improved road safety
• a communal garden
• somewhere for her Gran to play bowls!
Ruairí, who has two teenage boys who help him run his market stall, wants:
• things for young people to do
• improved road safety
• better street lighting and CCTV
• a local shop
• more attractive streets
• cafés and takeaways
• a recreation ground with something for everybody.
Improvements
You are able to make the following improvements:

Watch a short video of school children making 'recycled art'. Answer the questions correctly to win a recycling scheme for the community with recycling bins and a sticker for every house that joins.
• Community Garden
Watch a short video about how a school who share a garden with their local community. Answer the questions correctly to win plants and benches for the community garden.
• Resolve Recreation Ground Conflict
Listen to the different views about how to improve the recreation ground. Choose a plan that is a practical compromise and gets at least two of the three votes to win facilities for the recreation ground.
• Resolve New Shops Conflict
Listen to the different views about what shops people would like to see opening. Choose a plan that is a practical compromise and gets at least two of the three votes to win a range of shops for the area.
