A Chinese law that bans tour group operators from taking holidaymakers on compulsory shopping trips has led to price rises and a reduction in the number of travellers.
Chinese holiday companies previously kept prices low because they obliged tourists to go on shopping trips, earning them commission from storeowners.
China has now banned the practice, starting from the current national holiday.
Chinese tour operators say this has forced them to put up their prices, by as much as one-hundred percent.

British Muslim school accused of imposing strict Islamic practices
A Muslim school in Britain accused of imposing strict Islamic practices has closed down following an inspection by government regulators on Tuesday.
The inspectors visited the school to look into allegations by former staff members that female teachers were being forced to cover their heads with a hijab, whether they were Muslim or not, and that girls were being forced to sit at the back of the class.
The school, in Derby, said in a statement that it was shutting down on health and safety grounds, and it hoped to reopen in the very near future.
