NASA working with company to develop 3D printer producing food

The US space agency NASA is planning to fund the development of a 3D printer capable of producing food.

Its chosen partner is aiming to create printers that will take basic nutrients in powder form and by depositing them one layer at a time, build up edible products, complete with different flavours - just like 3D printers build up plastic products.

The powdered nutrients have very long shelf-lives, and are therefore suited for long space missions, but the company says the technology could also solve problems on earth, where population growth is threatening to outstrip food production.

The project is still at its initial phase.

Japanese climber becomes oldest on top of Mount Everest

An eighty-year-old Japanese climber has become the oldest person to conquer Mount Everest.

The office of Yuichiro Miura said he reached the summit on Thursday morning local time.

It was his third time on top of the world's highest mountain; he made the previous ascents five and ten years ago.

The previous record holder, the Nepalese mountaineer Min Bahadur Sherchan, is planning to climb the mountain next week.

He is eighty-one.

Pria Jepang pendaki Puncak Everest tertua

Pria berusia 80 tahun dari Jepang menjadi orang tertua yang mecapai Puncak Everest.

Juru bicara Yuichiro Miura mengatakan bahwa ia mencapai puncak pada Kamis pagi waktu setempat.

Ini adalah ketiga kalinya ia mencapai puncak gunung itu, sebelumnya adalah lima dan sepuluh tahun yang lalu.
