Now it seems that either Neil Young has had a change of heart about the merits of streaming music, or else he's just given up fighting it.

Last year, Young removed his back catalogue from such sites declaring:

    Quote Message

"Streaming is the worst audio in history."

The 70-year-old even developed his own high-resolution audio music download service called Pono, which he described in his 2012 autobiography Waging Heavy Peace as "a bid to try and rescue the art form that I've been practicing for the past 50 years."

Well Neil, I guess if you can't beat them, join them.

Keep on streaming in the free world folks.

  18. Unheard Bowie vocals to be featured in new documentarypublished at 09:38 GMT 4 November 2016

    David BowieImage source, Getty Images

Starting with that incredible Bowie news..

A new documentary, about the last five years before David Bowie's death in January, is to include the original vocals which Bowie recorded for Lazarus, his final release, which has never been heard before.

The film, David Bowie: The Last Five Years, will be shown on BBC Two in January 2017 and has been produced and directed by Francis Whately as a follow-up to his Bowie documentary Five Years which was broadcast in 2013.

Of the unheard recordings, which you can now listen to below, Bowie's producer Tony Visconti said it was the work of a man "at the top of his game".

    Quote Message

He would stand in front of the mic and for the 4 or 5 minutes; he was singing, he would pour his heart out and I could see through the window that he was really feeling it. The audio picked up his breathing. It wasn’t that he was out of breath; he was like hyper-ventilating in a way, like getting his energy up to sing this. A man on top of his game. It’s brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. And the saddest lyrics to hear them now.

    Media caption,

From David Bowie: The Last Five Years, a new landmark film on BBC Two in January 2017

BBC Four will also broadcast Bowie at the BBC, an archive of the singer's career from his first appearance in 1964 to his death this year.

And actor and musician Martin Kemp will present a documentary on Radio 2, examining the impact of Bowie's song Life On Mars widely regarded as his masterpiece.
