With earnings of $170m (£138m), she outpaced her nearest competitor, Adele, by more than two-to-one.

The British singer came second on the list with $80.5m (£65.2m) in earnings.

Mark J Blige has been revealing how she has poured her turbulent recent history into the her live shows.

Speaking to 1Xtra's Trevor Nelson, Mary said singing live was a way of dealing with things, such as the split with her husband or more than 10 years Kendu Isaacs. 

"Its not just about pouring my heart on stage about the breakup, its about the past five years of my life being splattered all over the news and how hard it has been to stay afloat

"Its just like en explosion of, 'I'm a human being'. It isn't about what happens to Mark J Blige but how i come through it it, not by panicking and going crazy but stopping to think, pray and just use it all."

Pop star Cheryl has been announced as the new face of the charity Childline.

The ex-Girls Aloud singer will front a campaign film which sees her voice replaced by young people talking about their problems and the charity hopes it will help them to connect with "a whole new audience".

New Childline figures show a 22% increase over the last three years in the number of counselling sessions provided for girls aged 12-18 suffering from mental health and wellbeing issues.

Lily Allen says she was empowered by the backlash to her recent visit to the Calais migrant camp.

She was heavily criticised for telling a young Syrian boy that she wanted to apologise "on behalf of my country".

Speaking to Radio 1's Annie Mac, Lily said it is her "responsibility" to take action.

"It's sad that there are so many people within our society that are so fearful of minority groups or of vulnerable people."

"When I talk openly about those things I'm not setting out to inspire people, it's because I'm usually talking about or trying to highlight a situation I believe in and usually where vulnerable people are concerned.

"I knew full well there was going to be a fallout from the mainstream media but I feel empowered by it, rather than upset by it."

Italian Composer Ennio Morricone wants a court to declare that he can reclaim the rights to three of his film scores.

Morricone has filed a lawsuit against Bixio Music Group, according to the Hollywood Reporter, as the rights to the music from Cosi Come Sei (Stay As You Are), Il Giocattolo (A Dangerous Toy) and Un Sacco Bello (Fun Is Beautiful) all expired in 2012.

The Copyright Act of 1976 enables authors to cancel a copyright grant 35 years after initial publication.

Following on from the success off Adele and her Jenny stunt ahead of her own BBC special, the Canadian crooner was transformed into a South African shop assistant and sent into a busy shop on London's Oxford Street.

Michael's show is being presented by Strictly's Claudia Winkleman who said: "He wanted to take on a different role and work in audio/visual department of a department store.

"So he transformed into Dionne, a South African guy, whose first day was on the shop floor, unbeknownst to lots of his fans who’d been brought in by brothers and sisters, people who loved him. 

"And he started singing and it was unbelievably moving. And I don’t know how much of it you’ll actually see but there was one girl who didn’t stop crying for two hours."

Lil Wayne has distanced himself from the Black Lives Matter campaign for social justice in the USA.

In an interview with ABC News' Nightline, the New Orleans rapper says that he does not feel connected to the movement, pointing to his huge success as a black artist in America.

"My dad loved 1950s rock and roll and I watched VHS tapes and I saw girls scream for him, I remember thinking, 'I want to be him when I grow up'."

The band have released 12 albums since 1979 and have had more than 15 top ten hit singles.

Glamour magazine are taking some stick on social media after announcing that U2 frontMANBono is to receive their first ever Man of the Year award at their annual event in Los Angeles celebrating Women of the Year.

Cindi Leive, Glamour's editor-in-chief defended the decision saying: "We've talked for years about whether to honour a man at Women of the Year and we've always kind of put the kabash on it. 

"You know, men get a lot of awards and aren't exactly hurting in the celebration and honors department. 

"But it started to seem that that might be an outdated way of looking at things, and there are so many men who really are doing wonderful things for women these days. Some men get it and Bono is one of those guys".

But the news hasn't gone down at all well.

For his part, Bono said: "I’m sure I don’t deserve it.

"But I’m grateful for this award as a chance to say the battle for gender equality can’t be won unless men lead it along with women. We’re largely responsible for the problem, so we have to be involved in the solutions."

Bono will be handed his trophy in Los Angeles on 14 November.

Green Day have been added to the line up of this weekend's MTV European Music Awards in Rotterdam.

The US punk survivors are set to receive the MTV Global Icon Award.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees are three-time winners of the MTV EMA for Best Rock and released their 12th studio album Revolution Radio last month.

Past recipients of the Global Icon award include Duran Duran, Ozzy Osbourne, Eminem and Whitney Houston.

The EMAs will be broadcast live from the Ahoy Rotterdam in the Netherlands on Sunday 6 November 6 from 2000 GMT.
