Reception advice If you want to improve your reception or listen to us for the first time you've come to the right place. We serve the county with six FM and three medium wave transmitters. We have more analogue transmitters than most other local radio stations in the UK. Why do we have so many? In the centre of Cumbria, the mountains of the Lake District presents a largely impenetrable barrier to clear FM radio signals. Without getting technical about it, the best signals are obtained when your radio can 'see' the transmitter. In parts of Cumbria, this can be more difficult to achieve than anywhere else in England. Over the last few years, we have improved reception considerably by adding transmitters in areas such as Whitehaven and Keswick. We hope you will be able to find what you need to know here on these pages. Take a look at the FAQs - if you still have difficulties, there is further information about how to contact us on that page.
