Neil Smith email:neil.smith@bbc.co.uk

| Neil began his broadcasting while at university in York. Although his interest in radio began much earlier - listening to anything and everything he could as a youngster. He's currently the senior producer in the Barrow office, keeping track of the changing news scene in the south of the county. Neil divides his spare time between his three great loves; wife Claire Barrowdale (who works alongside him in the Barrow newsroom), cooking and steam trains. He's a member of the Furness Railway Trust and the Lakeside Railway Trust. See his work in all the glory of steam and polished rivets at: www.furnessrailwaytrust.org.uk Any closely guarded secrets? Flying in the face of convention, it was Claire who proposed to Neil - while clambering up one of the area's higher mountains. What would you be if you weren't in radio? As I love cooking so much I might be a chef, or running a tea room somewhere in the county. |
