Paul O'Neill email:paul.oneill@bbc.co.uk

| Paul's made his broadcasting debut as an eleven year old. He made his own studio in the spare bedroom out of other people's old audio junk. At fifteen he joined the hospital radio service in his home town of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and it's been steady progess since then. There's not much Paul hasn't done or places he hasn't been through his work with the BBC, but he's now settled in Barrow for a number of reasons. Not least of those reasons is his marriage to Gail who also used to work the Barrow office. I love the place, says Paul. It's a much more personal area compared to the big cities. I really feel like I know all our listeners. Any surprises for us? I once talked to Bing Crosby on Christmas Eve from his Californian home. What do you do when you're not broadcasting? Sharing the house with 2 St.Bernard dogs and 3 cats it's a little difficult to get anything done. However, I'm a keen gardener and we're literally self-sufficient in vegetables all year round. So if I'm not at the BBC you'll find me in the greenhouse or in the garden. I'm also a great fan of our home-grown soaps and I try not to miss an episode of any of them. |
