What job do you do at BBC Radio Cumbria? Presenter of The Singer And The Song music by singer-songwriters of the last 40 years. The programme is broadcast on Bank Holidays. How did you start your career at BBC Radio Cumbria? I sent a demo recording to the manager, Nigel Dyson and the man from Annetwell Street, he say yes! Then I did a full programme demo and somehow managed to convince the powers that be that there were possibilities in this type of music. Where else have you worked? In radio, various hospital broadcasting services, RSLs for KCR 107 and Lakes FM. What other jobs have you done besides working at BBC Radio Cumbria? Not done, still do. I am Head of Drama at The Queen Katherine School in Kendal. How long have you worked at BBC Radio Cumbria and why do you like it? My first programme was broadcast on Boxing Day 2001. I like it because the people are very friendly and helpful and I enjoy playing some of my favourite songs (and being paid for it!). What would listeners be surprised to learn about you? That Im not the 25 year-old, tall, dark, handsome person that I sound like! What do you do when youre not at work? Exhaustive research around every retail CD outlet in a radius of 100 miles from home looking for interesting additions to my collection.
