What jobs do you do at BBC Radio Cumbria? Management Assistant - ie accounts, personnel, premises issues etc. Everything other than broadcasting. How did you get into a radio career? Answered an advert in the local paper! Where was your first broadcast? Not a broadcaster, although have done the odd piece on air. Where else have you worked? A long list including working as an English teacher in Germany, for a large computer company (ICL), as a bursar in a local primary school and a short stint as a postie. How long have you worked at BBC Radio Cumbria and why do you like it? I’ve worked here since 1996 and like it most of the time!
What are your local connections? I was born in Barrow and brought up in the Ulverston area (Greenodd). I went to Victoria High School in Ulverston.
What would you do if you didn’t work in radio? I enjoyed working in education and would probably try to get back into the accounts/admin side of that area. What would listeners be surprised to learn about you? That would be telling! I once worked as a waitress in an all-night bar favoured by transvestites in Auckland, New Zealand! What do you do when you’re not at work? I spend all of my spare time with my young son, Jacob.
