There are hundreds of excellent walks, visitor centres and museums in the area, but we have chosen just one walk to get you started. It has been specially designed to include many fascinating clues about the area's natural and ancient history, as well as showing some of the very recent changes that industry has brought to the area, with farms, quarries and even a landfill site and the airport in the distance. Although very varied in subject, the walk is consistently level and is easy enough for children or for people that don't fancy a tough hike. See the walk details for more information. Other walk options If you get hooked on discovery, the walk can be extended and can take in Ryton's ancient woodland and Ryton Pools Country Park - enough to fulfil even the heartiest of appetites for adventure. Just pick up one of the walk leaflets from the visitor centre, 500 yards down from the start of the Bubbenhall walk, for a range of self-guided rambles around the pools and neighbouring woodlands. If you want to cycle, use a pushchair or wheelchair, then the Ryton walk will also be better suited to you, as the Bubbenhall walk goes over 3 or 4 stiles. Take a look at the map to decide which option is best for your needs.
