Whitfield, June There’s really not enough space here to write about June Whitfield. The London-born, RADA-trained actress was a star of stage, screen, TV and radio long before Jennifer Saunders was born. She gained real prominence in Take It From Here in 1953 and went on to do, amongst other things, various Carry On films, Hancock, Terry and June and The News Huddlines. June's character in the show is Mother.
