Abby Vs Romesh: Books, battles and gaming

The book is called Yasmin Bandara Levels Up!, and it's about a girl who has no idea what she wants to be when she grows up.

Her parents, both doctors, want her to focus on school and become a doctor too. They encourage her to study hard and only play educational games, like Monkey House, which she’s good at but finds unbearably boring!

Then Yasmin discovers Fifpro, an exciting football video game, and secretly plays whenever she can. She dreams of being as good as her gaming hero, "The Goat," but juggling schoolwork and gaming is making her head spin.

When she's invited to compete in tournaments for both games, Yasmin realises she has to make a choice. Can she make her parents proud and beat The Goat, or will it be GAME OVER?

The book was inspired by Romesh’s children, who all love video games. As a parent, he reflects on watching them play, joining in, and cherishing the quality time they share.

Romesh Ranganathan is best known as a top stand-up comedian, the host of The Weakest Link, and now, an author!
